TIMELINE

2010:
A lunar colony is founded, based around the Psion transmitter discovered there earlier. The power source for the transmitter provides the colony with energy. Original purpose for the colony - the study of the transmitter artefact - is soon expanded to include colonization and other scientific endeavours.

2011:
T2M Luna is formed. It is the first Team Tomorrow to include metas, who find it easier to use their powers this close to the Psion transmitter.

2012:
Astronomers discover Coalition fleet at a distance of about 18 lightyears, using some nifty new telescopes they've been building. A message is transmitted but no reply is received. Proteus agents get busy covering things up. Utopia does not like to think about individual novas warping to the fleet, or similar feats of stupidity, before they know more about what the aliens are up to.

Nasa is already employing it's first Metas (technically Emily is on attachment from Starfire but it's much the same). However it would be way outside her scanning range unless someone's got an amplifier on line.

2013:
Utopia puts together a team of novas to investigate if the alien fleet is a threat to humanity. The nova team receives extra training to prepare for the extended period in space and leaves earth.

Spies within Utopia hand over everything about the aliens to The Directive. The US and Russia understand exactly why Utopia decided to cover up the alien fleet, but the UK and Japan are displeased. The Directive concludes that this is obviously a Utopian conspiracy against the free world which constitutes a threat to humanity on its own right. Tension between the Directive and Utopia increases.

2014:
The nova team arrives to the fleet and is wiped out. The coalition use their bodies to create their own novas. Utopia decides that the fleet does indeed constitute a threat to humanity. In a closed hearing the UN security council gets the news served to them. The council is quickly divided between those who want to keep the alien threat a secret and those who want to make it public. The US, China and Russia wants to keep it under cover. The others are uncertain or wants to reveal it to the public.

Despite these differing points of view a decision is made to put Utopia in charge of making a real Strike Force and stage a counterattack.

Team Tomorrow moves its main headquarters to the lunar colony. A training camp for the Strike Force is erected on the backside of the moon. The Strike Force includes Caestus Pax and several other powerful novas. This leaves a reduced pool of powerful novas on Earth. To fill out the gaps metas have to be recruited. Eventually the metas and the novas are separated because they disrupt each other too much and the meta version of T2M is created.

2015:
Strike Force made up of some of the most powerful novas and metas leaves earth. The novas use their powers to travel through space while the metas use some weird biotech spaceships which were donated by the Cirrus. The spaceships were obviously of alien design but the Cirrus don't use them...

2016:
Unknown novas attack and all but wipe out lunar colony. They retreat to unknown location as reinforcements arrive from Earth. Contact with Strike Force is lost as the telepath who kept the connection is killed in the attack.

Increased tension within the UN causes several nations to leave the Union - the nations who leave are largely the same nations which constitute the Directive, and some sympathizers. The renegade nations (secretly controlled by the Directive behind the scenes) create their own assembly, unimaginatively named the National Assembly. The NA headquarters is located in Berlin.

2017:
Unknown novas (possibly the same as in the attack on Moon) hit different sites on Earth. Every attack ends with the strange novas retreating to unknown location - all attempts to locate them or their hidingplace fail. People put the blame on either the Teragen or different elite groups, all of which deny involvement.

The UN continues to lose members. The NA picks up some of the nations as they leave the UN, but quite a lot prefer to stay away from any new unions.

2018:
Unknown spaceship enters Sol system via a massive warp gate. The Strike Force has managed to board and capture a Coalition vessel and brought it back home for study. With the aid of the Strike Force and technology found on board the ship the unknown novas are discovered to be alien novas apparently hailing from the approaching fleet. When their secret hiding place is discovered the alien novas are finally defeated.

Although several members of the Strike Force made the ultimate sacrifice and died on duty, seeing Caestus Pax return to Earth reduced to a mental vegetable was probably the most dreadful experience of the war to most inhabitants on Earth. His condition is feared to be permanent and incurable. Caestus Pax gets the best possible care Earth can offer and a team of the best experts in the fields of medicine is gathered to find a cure.

With the arrival of the captured spaceship UN and Utopia is no longer able to cover up the existence of the alien fleet. The announcement causes riots and panics all over the world. Governments fall, revolutions and general uprisings add to the turmoil and chaos keeps spreading.

The National Assembly announces its intention to create a space fleet of its own to defend Earth. Several new nations rally under the NA, who later the same year becomes a military alliance as well as an economical. The UN is forced to act in a similar manner, which means that the world is more or less divided into two super-blocks.

2019:
The alien fleet is dubbed the Coalition by scientists studying the captured vessel. The rumors about little grey men are put to rest by Strike Force members who testify that the Coalition aliens resemble nothing humanity have ever seen before. According to the experts the fleet is expected to arrive in Sol system sometime about 2050.

NA accuse UN of keeping discoveries made from studies of the alien craft to themselves when they should be the property of all of humanity. The UN denies this, of course, but the hard feelings between the blocks continues to grow.

2020:
All this time the Doyan have been gathering their pawns and forming their armies and Cirrus have been searching their psionic database for possible allies for humanity against the greater threat they know is coming. The doyen are mostly studying us for all this time, and preparing...

The NA requests to send its own team of scientists to study the Coalition craft. The UN denies access to the craft. Explanation given: "We are in a sensitive phase of the exploration right now. It can not be jeopardized by allowing a team unfamiliar with the processes to board the vessel. Come back later."

This was of course interpreted by the NA as: "We are busy figuring out how these things work so we can build our own ships and crush you. Piss off!"

Later the same year a huge explosion disintegrates the alien craft and the team working on it, as well as a few novas positioned there for research or defense. A religious terrorist group claims to have done the deed but rumors are spreading that it was in fact a nuclear missile fired from NA territory. Accusations fly and pretty soon warmachines are scrambling.

2021:
World War 3 begins for real. The UN versus the NA. There are no fronts and no stable borders in this war. The use of nova forces makes the war a highly uncertain affair and conventional strategies fail constantly. Nova tacticians adapt quickly though. The war does not rely on ABC-weapons to any great extent, but rather on fast, mobile assault teams made up of novas and assisting conventional troops.

Teams like these gradually replace conventional armies as it becomes clear that quality rather than quantity is what's important. Assault teams perform surgical strikes against important targets, while similar teams on the opposite side tries to intercept them before they can accomplish their goal. This tactic dominates throughout the war, with a few exceptions either failing miserably or at least failing to provide better results.

Civilian losses are significantly lower than anyone expected, although collateral damages to property and equipment has never been higher. The ones suffering the most during this war are the novas. It is believed that almost 10% of the entire nova population dies as a result of the war - either in actual combat or during supposedly peaceful missions aiding the victims.

The Teragen are partly responsible for this. Enraged by how their brethren are exploited by baseline armies factions within the organization starts waging war against both the UN and the NA. The Teragen quite unexpectedly suffers great losses during these attacks - possibly due to placing too great trust on their powers to defend them from the effects of conventional weapons. In the end it doesn't matter; the Teragen attacks does not end the war but just add fuel to the already raging fire.

[There should be some more details about the war and its consequences here but I haven't had time to think about that... Maybe later.]

One side-effect of the war is that many novas are forced to push themselves beyond their normal limits, which increases the Taint. Research of the Taint on both sides of the conflict result in the P.U.R.G.E treatment which enables heavily tainted novas to get rid of the negative energies clogging up their bodies.

This organization's headquarters is located in Switzerland. Now there are two super-nations and they aren't too friendly: the UN controlled by Aeon / Utopia, and the Confederate Nations controlled by Directive. Of course these two must face off somehow...And their quarrels turn into more or less full scale war for a few years. After a while things settle down. Not too much collateral damage was caused, mostly because neither side used Mass-destructive weapons. Thanks to the war the Coalition spaceship is lost, destroyed in an attack...So the studies of the coalition must be ended before they find out everything about them. Now this means that nobody figured out that the real ETA for the coalition fleet is in fact 2029...Nasa Metas will spot it at about 10 ly distant lather though or so you think. Thanks to some weird Coalition tech they don't discover them in time...Only when they are about 100 A.U. away.

Anyway, with the coalition appearing on the doorsteps of the Sol system earth faces a common enemy, and now the CN and the UN can join forces again to fight this threat. Wonderfully planned by Aeon don't you think? They got their world government after all. They didn't plan the war though, Ok, maybe they didn't plan the whole thing but they adapted damn quick.
Which side will the US be on? Internal politics in different countries can be affected by this a lot...but relations between Starfire and the Directive are.... shall we say strained so the US is divided.

2029:
The Coalition fleet arrives to within 100 A.U. of Sol system. This surprises everybody: not only the clairsentients of NASA who believed they were going to be able to spot the fleet from about 10 l.y. distant, but also the small army of scientists who were trying to interpret the research data from the captured ship - they were pretty sure that the fleet was not going to arrive until about 2050.

Massive destruction is headed Earth's way as the Coalition pulls asteroids the size of Japan from the Oort belt and grav-a-pults them towards Earth. If just one of them hits or even passes by close enough it would mean the end of all life - except maybe nova life.

Novas from both sides of the conflict set aside their differences almost as one, and head off into space to avert the threat. Stripped of their fighting force and in the face of mutual extinction the super-blocks see no better way out than to form a makeshift peace and create a new union - The United Earth Council - with the immediate goal to defend the planet. The United Earth Defense Force is formed as the first sub-division of the Council, consisting of experts and officers from all nations of the world. All standing armies (under former UN or NA control) are assembled into the UEDF, controlled by the UEC.

2030:
In just above 18 months a world government is formed; shaky and unstable but slowly turning into a functioning controlling and guiding power. Its first mission is to set all Earth's resources to the creation of a spacefleet based upon the biotech ships donated by the Cirrus. Until the fleet is ready Earth will have to depend upon its novas and metas to fend off the entire Coalition fleet.

The Coalition is laying siege on Sol system from a distance of about 20 a.u. effectively surrounding it. From this position they are launching asteroids, missiles and other weapons of massive destruction towards Earth and its defenders. The novas manages to keep the fleet away and protect Earth from the missiles but they are hard-pressed and unable to fight back. Until the fleet is ready there is no way to launch a counter-attack.

Earth is busy building a space fleet of it's own but in the meantime novas and metas must defend earth themselves using the bio-spaceships provided by the Cirrus, or their own Quantum forces The earth fleet is being built in earth orbit, the moon colony is rebuilt and more colonies are planned for the other planets. Of course a seige with teleporters and warpers is not all that effective. Well, the siege was just a term... not adequate perhaps... unless the Coalition spacefleet erupts a non-teleport field around Sol System...If they can...They are trying, and that's one of the first things earth must prevent...

The Coalition have novas of their own! They didn't waste them all on the attacks in 2016-17, just a few of the spaceworthy combat-heavy ones. Since then they have been popping them out as fast as they could, and trained them for war... Most of them aren't even human to begin with. Can you say Kuh-Thoo-Looh?

Note: the Coalition novas are generally less powerful than human novas, but far more numerous. Some of them have displayed completely unique powers never developed by human novas. A few of the Coalition novas are very powerful - luckily they seem to be locked in combat with Earth's novas in space.

By 2030 there's a meta version of T2M and don't forget several anti nova, meta terrorist groups and at least one religion that is giving the Church of the Immanent Eschaton a run for it's money based on the psi experience. Oh and some clairsentient chick has invented something similar to Muezzin bang(from Trinity).

The Cirus did sense a Doyan scan in 2009 so they gave warp tech.

The Cirrus will help, they have the idea for boosting human meta latents to active using biotech but are working
on the idea. They want to make sure that it doesn't encourage metas to take the easy way out. (ie they have reasons but different reasons for putting Trinity style restrictions on the tanks). The tanks are colaberative effort invented by mega-int novas, and the Cirus. They were invented after the Coalition War ended in about 2050 or so and the Coalition allies with earth. The two races trade tech and thanks to some genetic stuff from the Coalition the nova can come up with the tanks. The invention of tanks cause the Doyen to react negatively and the Doyen War starts. By 2030 the cure for taint is out, this adapted chrysalis is common knowledge.
